ME, MYSELF AND IEach one of us, as we grow up, have certain ideas and dreams, if you will, about things we want to do when we grow to our adupt stage of development. Few of us have the opportunity, or take the time, to make these dreams come true. Myself, on the other hand, forfieted my pre-destined career to the pusuit of my dreams. My expereinces are varied and many but they are all real.
As a young man born and raised in Oregon, opportunities abounded for various job opportunities. So beginning about age ten, I began experiencing "real life". I have worked in the berry, bean, hop and onion fields. I have baled and shocked hay. I have been a catskinner, powder monkey, and choker setter for a major logging and lumber company. I have been a laborer, heavy equipment operator, truck driver and superintendent in th consturctyion business. I have been a rough stock rodeo cowboy. I have worked, as a cowboy, on a two hundred thousand acre cattle ranch. I have guided dudes on a dude ranch. I have earned a degree in civil engineering and have been in the construction and utility business for a little more than half my life. I worked for a major international engineering firm for seven years and was sent all over the world as an environmental trouble shooter.
During all this time I also managed to be married and raise two boys and a girl, all of which are out on their own andraising thwir own families and doing very well. My interests are still varied, but knowing more about our existence(geology, archaeology, pleontology, history), are still the format for my continuing education. |
